Email Header Analyzer
Paste a message’s headers to see where it started, every server it passed through, and whether SPF, DKIM and DMARC passed for the address in the From line. The headers are read in your browser and are never sent to DNS Panopticon.
Where to find a message’s headers
- Gmail: open the message, choose More (⋮), then Show original, and copy the text above the message body.
- Outlook on the web: open the message, choose More actions (…), then View › View message details.
- Outlook for Windows: open the message, choose File › Properties, and copy Internet headers.
- Apple Mail: select the message, then View › Message › All Headers.
Copy the headers from the recipient’s mailbox. A forwarded copy only shows the forwarder’s headers.
Headers show what each server recorded, not proof of who sent a message. Only the Received and Authentication-Results headers added by the recipient’s own provider can be trusted; earlier ones can be written by the sender. To learn how the checks fit together, read Email Phishing Protection: SPF, DKIM, DMARC.
